[Review] SlideMyName - Put Your iDevice Name In the Slide to Unlock Bar

Here is another Cydia Tweak that I found on ModMyi.com.

SlideMyName

Simple... but interesting.

Are you one of those people that likes to name your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad something really, really out of this world? A lot of people do; if you like to add a personal touch to your iDevice then this new jailbreak tweak is a great way to do that. It's called SlideMyName by iOS developer c0d3. This tweak does work on iOS 4 and iOS 5.

I've seen some crazy iDevice names before such as "ship," which when synced would say, "syncing ship" in the iTunes bar. Clearly a humorous act, but people get pretty creative with their iDevice names. One great new feature of iOS 5 is that you can change the name of your iDevice directly from the Settings application. It used to be that you needed to change your iDevice name through iTunes by tripple-clicking on your iDevice's name on the left side of the iTunes window. You would then highlight the text and it would allow you to type something different.

After you install this jailbreak tweak, whatever you name your iDevice to will appear in your slide to unlock bar on your lock screen as the image above indicates. The tweak itself isn't directly customizable, but you can indirectly customize it in the sense that you can change your iDevice's name at any time and the tweak will update the name on the lock screen's slide to unlock bar to whatever you have changed it to.

Do you not know how to change your iDevice's name? No problem, this is how:
  1. Open the Settings application
  2. Tap on the 'General' section
  3. Tap on the 'About' section
  4. Tap on the 'Name' section
  5. Delete the existing text and replace it with what you want to name your iDevice

The slide to unlock bar customization tweaks are getting a bit cliché now, but if you will be downloading this one, share in the comments!
