We have been watching (well, reading actually) a live blog this morning covering the events that are unfolding at the Apple headquarters in Cupertino CA.
Everyone (geeks like me) have been waiting for today. The day that we hear about the iPhone 5…
Well that shit isn’t going to happen!!!
So what have we learned so far? Here is a quick iPhone recap of the “let’s talk iPhone” event happing right now at the Apple Campus in Cupertino, CA…
So now it’s official, the iPhone 4 will be followed by and updated phone….. the iPhone 4s. That’s right… the 4s. Like people couldn’t see that one coming. I mean, you all heard of the 3g and its upgrade, the 3gs right???
Maybe we will see an i5 next year? Makes sense though if you think about it. Apple has been doing MAJOR version changes every 2 years…
- iPhone 2g (original) = 2007
- iPhone 3g = 2008
- iPhone 3gs = 2009
- iPhone 4 = 2010
- iPhone 4s = 2011
- iPhone 5 = 2012???
So what's the pricing on the 4s???
$199 = 8gb
$299 = 32gb
$399 = 64gb
Ok. Here are the key “perks”
- The A5 chip is now making its way into the iPhone
- “Dual-core CPU, 2x as fast at CPU tasks. Also dual-core graphics. Up to 7x faster in the previous iPhone. One area you really see it scream is in games.”
- Data can now download up to 2x as fast. Theoretical max performance used to be 5.8 up and 7.2 down — now doubles to almost 14.4Mbps down.
- “What’s the new camera on the iPhone 4S like? It starts with an 8 megapixel sensor.”
- Increased to 8 hours talk time, damn! “Fantastic battery life.”
- Second, wireless system: “Our engineering team has worked really hard to advance the state of the art that’s never been done in a phone before. It can now intelligently switch between two antennas between send and receive to make even better call quality.”
- That’s right Sprint people, you’re FINALLY getting the iPhone. Sorry, T-Mobile people.
So when is it coming out? Pre-Orders will start on October 7th, and the iPhone 4gs will launch on October 12th.
iOS 5 – Coming to a iDevice near you October 12th 2011. Price = FREE
