Cydia has been updated to 1.1.1 - Fast as sh*t!

Cydia 1.1 is finally upon us and it’s packed with AWESOME! An update which has been discussed for months, and a topic that users have thought about almost every day. Not only are there a ton of new features bundled inside, but we also get UI updates, speed increases and an improved search function. This update adds even more functionality behind the scenes, which will allow Saurik to provide even more updates to Cydia, quicker and easier than ever before. Saurik just announced it's release via  Twitter, saying: Quote: Cydia 1.1: faster, slimmer, and more stable; including an improved search algorithm and "resume where you left off". Available in Cydia now! While I don’t have an official list of new features and all the updates to the new Cydia 1.1, I’ll try to cover as many as I can. First and foremost, the new Cydia is fast! I mean REAL FAST! Seriously, this thing flies now! Web Content is now “appcached” which allows content to load much quicker. Even the homepage pop’s into place almost instantly now. Behind the scenes, Cydia continues to check for updates and even downloads them in the background, all while refreshing any new content that has been updated. The UI has been updated slightly, in a very clean manner, which makes things seem much more fluid and snappy. The searching mechanism in Cydia has been updated to allow for faster searching, and smoother interaction with the enormous repositories. OLD 1.0.3366-1 New 1.1.1 We’ve had a ton of new languages added to Cydia as well, making it even more universal than ever before. This includes Greek, Chinese, German, Dutch & Spanish languages. This release is live and in Cydia now. Don’t forget to thank Saurik for all his hard work, as well as the rest of the team. This is a ton of work they have put into this and it’s just the beginning of something even more AWESOME!

iOS 4.3.1 is now LIVE!!!

It has only been a couple of weeks since the release of iOS 4.3, but Apple has already released an update. iOS 4.3.1 is now available via iTunes for the GSM iPhone 4 (yes, you CDMA users are still out of luck), the iPhone 3GS, iPad 2, original iPad, and third- and fourth-generation iPod touches.

The truth of the mater is Apple really needed a good reason to fix the security hole in 4.3 which allowed the iPad 2 to be jailbroken 2 days after it's release!!!

According to Apple, this update contains improvements and other bug fixes including:

• Fixes an occasional graphics glitch on iPod touch (4th generation)
• Resolves bugs related to activating and connecting to some cellular networks
• Fixes image flicker when using Apple Digital AV Adapter with some TVs
• Resolves an issue authenticating with some enterprise web services

The release notes don't make specific reference to fixing some of the battery issues reported around the Web or patching iPad 2 jailbreak vulnerabilities, though rumors had suggested that iOS 4.3.1 would address both of these topics. It's possible, however, that they (and other fixes) could fall under Apple's umbrella of general bug fixes.

a.      iOS 4.3 also brings full screen iAds banners on the iPad. “iAd full screen banners grab the attention of the user by taking advantage of the larger screen of iPad to launch an immersive interactive iAd experience. This new banner format is easy to implement.

Greenpois0n RC6.1 Released

Chronic Dev-Team has pushed out an update for greenpois0n, integrating the much needed fix for iBooks’ anti-jailbreaking code. PwnageTool 4.2.1 and sn0wbreeze 2.2 have implemented a fix as well, so users have a number of tools at their disposal.

This latest version can be run on top of RC6, but if you prefer to manually patch the iBooks “feature”, you can download “iBooks Fix” from Cydia using the http://repo.insanelyi.com repo.

Below you will find a detailed tutorial (w/Video) on how to jaibreak your Apple iPhone 4 on iOS 4.2.1. Thanks to the Chronic Dev Team for providing the UNTETHERED jailbreak tool GreenPois0n.

Ok... so here is the video guide on how to Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 via Green Pois0n for Windows rc5_b4

Now on to the step by step Mac OS X tutorial:

- Open GreenPois0n and connect your idevice on firmware iOS 4.2.1.

- Click on jailbeak and prepare to follow directions. You must be precise and follow the exact directions as shown.

- Press and hold the sleep button, its the top button on your idevice.

- While holding the sleep button, hold the home button on your iphone. You then should be holding both buttons down at the same time on your idevice.

- After the countdown timer finishes or your ipad turns off let go of the top sleep button but do not let go of the home button. If done correctly you will see that GreenPois0n  begins the jailbreak process.

Your iPhone should begin to jailbreak and it will flash white then go black, it will then show lines of code then reboot.

If all went well and your iPhone 4 rebooted you can now scroll over to the right/2nd page and open the icon called loader. The sources should load and you will see the option to install cydia. Tap and install cydia and you can now enjoy your jailbroken iPhone.

TroubleShooting:
If stuck on Greenpois0n initializing after trying to jailbeak or the jailbreak isn’t working you can try the following work arounds.

Solution 1 – Reboot computer, rerun Greenpois0n and while following the directions to jailbreak do not let go of the home button during the entire process of jailbreaking.

Solution 2 – Go to your OSX hdd home folder and delete the ibss and kernal cache files. Open finder on your computer and under devices choose your hdd name, you will see an ibss file and cache file so just delete those, reboot your computer and try Greenpois0n again.
